Lorelai Lyons

Long since fascinated by BCI technology, Lorelai has tread a winding path towards finding her own niche in the novel application of Clojure in the BCI space, while simultaneously advocating for the widespread adoption and development of BCIs in the broad mainstream social/political dialogue along the way.
With a background in music and philosophy, Lorelai approaches programming through a lens of epistemological inquiry, questioning not just how, but why we build the systems we do. BCI technology is often framed as a distant, science-fiction technology; yet with an ever lower barrier to entry and cost, BCIs have the increasing potential to completely replace the current mobile and desktop computing markets - it is Lorelai’s belief that need for public dialogue and education pertaining to the ethical, epistemological and metaphysical implications these technologies impose on society becomes more pressing with each passing day.
After ~3 years of studying Clojure, Lorelai has gotten involved in the Clojure community: serving on the Clojurists Together board of directors, volunteering with the “Clojure Camp”, and supporting Sci Cloj initiatives via group organization and facilitation as well as conference preparation. As an artist and technologist, Lorelai aims to merge creative expression with brain-computer interfaces. Her cross-disciplinary approach represents her commitment to innovation at the intersection of science, technology, and human creativity.
